The goals of the Freedom Center are to create a support system within the community, outside of treatment centers; help members meet their basic needs; provide experiences that promote feelings of self-worth, self-respect, independence, and improve the ability of the consumer to live independently in the community; reduce the incidence of inpatient hospitalization and improve the quality of life for the individual.

Mental Health America of North Dakota (MHAND) operates Mountainbrooke through a sub-contract from the North Dakota Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. The center provides stability to individuals who experience symptoms that related to their mental illness by offering an environment where members can share a meal, participate in leisure activities, and receive support in a social setting.

The Harmony Center is a place for people who are over the age of 18 and dealing with a mental illness/mental health challenge to come and meet others on the road to recovery.
